Not (Much) About Figure Skating

I did not watch much of the men's figure skating last night, although I did see Yevgeny Plushenko's performance. I get the impression that people who arrived fashionably late, assuming that the better skaters always skate last, were terribly disappointed.

But enough about figure skating... )

Curling? )

Biathlon )

It's probably just as well that I don't have a DV-R setup; I'd be otherwise too tempted to call in sick and watch the Games continuously.

Clothes Make the Man

This morning, I realized that I should have done laundry last night, as I had no clean work shirts left. Oops. I contemplated wearing one of my company's polo shirts, although they usually prefer that be Fridays only, when I realized that the shirts from my WSFS uniform pretty much fit the bill, of course without the rank insignia and other accessories. So I'm getting extended play out of the uniform. Nobody seems to have looked at me oddly, and I asked one of the senior engineers if I looked out of place today and he said no.

Transit Geekery

Spotted in Neil Gaiman's Journal: This Underground Map that might lead to some confusion.

Or maybe not. I managed to make my way around Paris on the Metro despite not knowing French. OTOH, "Tour Eiffel" isn't that difficult.
