Plumbing

As I've mentioned before, until we have the funds to do so (a day that may be finally coming closer, about which I may rant more someday), Fernley House remains a cold-water flat, with no plumbing at all upstairs. Worse, only one of the two downstairs toilets worked at all; the other was broken. Lisa had been setting money aside in her household account and finally had enough to say we could ask our favorite plumber to come replace the broken toilet in the forward bathroom. This morning, Steve from Marraccini Plumbing came by and put in a new, high-quality, top-of-the-line model. He'll be back personally on Sunday to clean our chimney, as he moonlights as a chimney sweep on weekends. I promised not to set a fire in the fireplace on Saturday no matter how cold it gets so that he has a nice cold chimney on which to work on Sunday morning.

Steve also suggested an electrician in Sparks who he recommends, because before he can do the next step (installing a hot water heater), we need some electrical work done, and as I mentioned a few days ago none of the electricians in Fernley, even the ones just around the corner from us, will return our calls. It seems silly to have to get someone from 30 miles west of here to do the work when there's an electrician less than a block away from our house, but that's how it goes, I guess.
