I've seen worse field conditions. I don't think I've seen them in spring/summer on a baseball field.

One year, the first football game of the season at UNM was held on a very wet Saturday, and the field suffered greatly. Since it was already late in the grass growing season - even in Albuquerque - the grass didn't return. For much of the rest of the season, the field was as much green spray-painted dirt as it was grass.

I don't recall if it was during the run from 1984-1987 when I was on that field during every home game and on at least one other Saturday, or beforehand. So I cannot say for sure I had a close-up look at the damage.
