Thanks for the info. I hadn't realized this had been an issue that came up before. Aside from precedent, on further thought, if you allowed that for anthologies, people would probably soon be asking the same for magazines for similar reasons, and that would quickly balloon out of control. I still feel on some level like there should be recognition for the authors who made up the anthology, but I think you're correct it's not feasible, and I don't have an alternative idea. Oh well.
