Permitted

This afternoon, on my way back from the Post Office, I stopped at the fire station to buy our burn permit for the current season (October 1-May 31). The permit costs $20 and allows the burning of yard waste under controlled conditions, as we've detailed in the past.

While we're now permitted to burn the debris we've collected, I think it's unwise to do so at this time. There's already way too much smoke in the air as it is. But we have plenty of time, even if we have to wait until next spring to do so.
