Long Way to the Bay
For complex reasons that ultimately stem from poor customer service from Verizon Wireless, I was four hours late getting away from Reno-Sparks today. I also had to take a longer trip to the Bay Area. That's because I first had to go to Yuba City to deliver to my mother (at left in the icon) a new mobile phone that I had purchased for her. The drive down CA-20 is lovely and scenic, but not as fast as I-80, and not as direct a route to my ultimate destination. I was only able to spend maybe 45 minutes visiting with my mother and sister (and delivering some small gifts I purchased for them while on the road in Texas) before having to head on out, and even then (including a meal stop at Cordelia Junction), I didn't get to my hotel in San Jose until after 9 PM.
The Vagabond Inn has upgraded their in-room internet service, which is nice. After lugging my bags upstairs (they're too full for the downstairs room upgrades I've scored on previous trips) and getting caught up on e-mail, I hope to get to bed soon. After all, I get an hour less sleep down here because I have to get up at 5:30 instead of 6:30 to be at work at the same time, on account of the commute from my bed to my desk is much shorter when I'm working from home.
