Trains on Trains
This afternoon, hearing a train approach, Lisa and I went out to have a look, as we often do. Lisa told me to grab my camera, as she'd spotted an unusual load on the westbound freight.

The above is a video; you can click through to watch it rolling by on top of the flatcars on which it was being transported.
This appears to be a Stadler GTW articulated railcar, with each of the three pieces on a separate flatcar. While this is apparently the kind of car used to provided extended service off the BART Concord line (I've never had chance to ride it), I don't recognize the paint scheme. I did see Stadler's name painted on it, so it might be a demonstrator or something like that.)
Update, November 23: See comment from
timill below; it's a Stadler FLIRT diesel multiple unit (DMU) for San Bernardino County Transit.
Spotting oddball loads like this is one reason we try to have a look at every passing train. Many of them are relatively mundane container trains or the like, but now and then you get weird stuff like this, special passenger trains, trains of explosives like I mentioned recently, and so forth. Trains are never boring.
