I think we have a whole bunch of people who are so safe and secure that they cannot conceive of a place where the government would prohibit anything that they consider critical of their government.

And I continue to roll my eyes at the people who say variations of "Well, then WSFS shouldn't have allowed a Worldcon there" or something like that. When you point out how that convention was selected, they seem to think "Someone should have done something about it" and think you're crazy when you explain how WSFS is organized, to the extent that it is organized.

I suppose that's true. Most people, when you show them the detailed structure of the World Science Fiction Society, either think you're lying to them or they think you're out of your mind because no sane person would ever organize something that way.
