Felt That One

Yesterday evening about 8:40 PM, I felt a lurch and the building made noise, sort of like what you might feel if someone slammed a door in your room or the upstairs neighbor had dropped a very heavy load on their floor. I checked, and indeed that was an earthquake, and I dutifully reported it through their system. It was minor from my point of view; nothing damaged, nothing fell off shelves, etc. I might not even have noticed it had I not been sitting quietly at my desk at home.

The only time I've been sitting quietly at home and the whole house shook...it was because of a massive explosion 6 miles away.

Really, I'd like to keep it that way. So I'll handle the blizzards, and you can have the earthquakes, 'kay?

(Safe trip, btw!)

Believe it or not, I'm perfectly happy with that trade.

Well, I guess I've finally been in California when a perceptible earthquake happened. At 8:40pm Thursday I was probably sitting in Gordon Biersch on Emerson in Palo Alto, with a bunch of people, and I don't recall anybody noticing anything.

It's gotta catch up with me eventually, if I keep spending 1/4 of my time out there.

Looking at the map, that's the other side of the bay, but where we were still had some people reporting it.
