Well Timed

Yesterday was the official start of summer. Right on cue, yesterday was also the first day it got hot enough here to prompt me to turn on the air conditioning.

You have air-conditioning??? 104 yesterday in Richmond (it's usually highs in the 70s in the summer). My rooms got all the way down to 83 during the night with all the windows open and ceiling fans at max. Currently it's 99 outside (in the shade).

Ouch! Yes, I'm fortunate to have the A/C, and even more fortunate that there are not many times I have to use it. OTOH, the same factors that mean I usually have the windows open in the winter -- the apartment is a heat-sink for the rest of the building -- means that once we reach a certain tipping point, it gets really difficult (and expensive) to cool the place as well.
