I'm basically rebuilding the van into a new vehicle one part assembly at a time. At least this spreads the payments out over time. However, it's gone on long enough that the new engine I had put in there a few years ago just went out of warranty (50K miles) a month or two ago, which is sort of ominous before undertaking a long journey like this one.
