Press Release 2006-2
CWSFA ANNOUNCES CONRUNNING SCHOLARSHIPS
The Canada West Science Fiction Association (CWSFA) will award two scholarships of $500 to help convention runners in training attend the ConComCon ("C-Cubed") convention-runners convention in Cle Elum, Washington this year over the weekend of June 2-4, 2006.
ConComCon is an annual convention about organizing science fiction (and other related subjects including fantasy, comics, anime, etc.) conventions. Subject matter focuses on organizing local and regional conventions, with an emphasis on the Pacific Northwest. The 2006 C-Cubed will be in Cle Elum WA at the Cascade Mountain Inn, June 2-4, 2006. More information about this year's C-Cubed is available on their web site,http://www.swoc.org/ccubed/ .
The scholarships are open to anyone involved in running science fiction conventions, regardless of their place of residence. However, applicants must be able to demonstrate that their attendance at C-Cubed will benefit Western Canadian conventions. Applications will be judged by the scholarship administrators, Kevin Standlee, Randy McCharles, and John Mansfield.
An application form is available athttp://www.calgaryin2005.org/ or by writing to CWSFA, Attn: C3 Scholarship Committee, C162 4331 Sarcee Road SW, Calgary AB T3E 6V9. Applicants are encouraged to submit their forms quickly as the time scale for awarding this year's grants is quite short. CWSFA must receive (postmark date does not count) applications by April 1, 2006.
CWSFA was the parent non-profit corporation of Due North/Westercon 58, the 2005 West Coast Science Fantasy Conference, held in Calgary July 1-4, 2005. Funding for these scholarships is provided from surplus funds of Westercon 58.

"Westercon" is a service mark of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society.

If you're thinking of applying for this, remember that you only have until April 1 to return the application. I recommend taking the text version of the application from the web site and sending that in as a text e-mail; it's faster than the other methods. The deadline for applying is April 1, so time is tight!
