Sorry, Bear!

Lisa tells me that [livejournal.com profile] travelswithkuma is grumpy with us, because we didn't go to Seaside for Bear's birthday, which is today. We apologized and said we'd hold a party for him at Westercon in Seattle. We aren't likely to be able to go to Seaside annually like we used to do. I'd actually like to go spend a week or even more there. I like it there. Lisa likes to visit the seashore but wouldn't want to live there.

If you're driving to Westercon, you might still be able to stop by Agate Beach and let Kuma Bear see the world-famous tsunami dock (http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2012/06/washed-up_tsunami_dock_number.html)! Details of the removal process are still being worked out, but if it's going to be towed away, they may have to wait for a particularly high tide.

We thought about it, but it's too far out of the way. We'll be driving Fernley - Seattle via Bend and Seattle - Fernley via Mehama and Klamath Falls, and the schedule is rather tight at times. If we want to go to Seaside, we'll need to schedule it as a separate vacation.

I don't think I realized Kuma and I almost share a birthday! Ask Lisa to give him an extra (if belated) snuggle from me, please.

Happy BEARthday, Kuma!

I'm looking forward to all the fun in Tonopah myself. Will you tell us about the must-see events?
