Nevada is a neat place somtimes. Because its Admission Day is October 31, Halloween is a state holiday. (Although of late they've wimped out and Monday-holiday'ed it.) Lisa put up a flag mounting and flew the state flag on Admission Day. Kuma Bear has pictures of the flag and of his Bear-sized jack-o-lantern.

Ah, Nevada, the only state in the Union where Halloween is a state holiday. (And comes twice, once in Carson City on the 30th and again the next day in the rest of the state.)

As a Nevada ex-pat, I proudly sing the Nevada state anthem every year on Nevada Day:

I love Nevada
You love Nevada
'cause living in Nevada's
Mighty fine, fine, fine.
And when it come to savings
The big safe friendly way
It's Nevada Savings every time!

I keep saying I'm going to take vacation that week one of these years and go back to take the tour of Lonnie Hammargen's homes in Las Vegas. I've always wanted to do that.
