A Timely Gift

During the rush of the Worldcon/Eurocon/Iceland trip, and the fact that I spent my birthday flying from Dublin to Reykjavik, I forgot to mention the gift the Lisa gave me.

Japanese Railway Watch Japanese Railway Watch

This is a Japanese railway watch, as used by all workers on Japanese railways. (It's hard to see the picture of the back is inscribed in Japanese.) This watch is so standard that the standard control stands on Japanese trains all have a slot shaped to hold this kind of timepiece. Christopher Carson was able to track one down for Lisa and she gave it to my for my birthday.

Now I have to figure out a way to use this nice gift.

Here are some pictures which may show it off a little better. Incidentally, I recently bought some trousers at Target, chinos from their house brand "Goodfellow & Co", & found they had watch pockets! (The welt style at the waistband, not the pocket-in-a-pocket often found on blue jeans.) I actually telephoned their Customer Service department (apparently they no longer have anything so old-fashioned as a mailing address) to compliment them on this feature.
