Why My Fellow High School Students Hated Me

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] gridlore, [livejournal.com profile] nitroace, and others.

You paid attention during 97% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

I'm a little disappointed; I thought I had a shot at a perfect score on that. The area of a triangle is 1/2bh, isn't it?

97% is only one wrong.

I know, but I want to know which one it is. The one that seem most likely to have been scored against me were the one on the biggest religions.

Islam, Christianity and Hinduism.

Let's just say that this test exercises the Tao of questioning.

I pulled 100%, but didn't feel like posting it in my journal.

The area of a triangle is base x height / 2. A right triangle makes it easy because base and height are the two legs, and you can ignore the hypotenuse.

That was one reason I liked the question; it gave you more information than you needed, in an attempt to trip you up with excess data.

Mary was the immaculate conception; she had to be born without original sin so that she could be the vessel for Jesus, the Christ, Son of God, and all that crap. So if you picked Mary, you got that one right. If you picked Jesus, that was where you slipped up. I'm told most Catholics don't even know this. I am occasionally annoyed about how much I know about Christianity as a religion when it isn't even mine.

I got that one right. Turns out I had the three biggest religions wrong.

Ah, the three biggest religions one was the one I was very unsure of, but as it happens I plumped for the right one (and got 100%). I only knew the immaculate conception one (not being Catholic) because there used to be a very striking Catholic church called the Something Something of the Immaculate Conception just down the road from where we lived, and it had a huge picture of Mary on it.

I'm sure I picked Jesus and got 100%.

Hm. Interesting. Maybe they gave credit for Jesus, too, then. Wikipedia has details on the history of the Catholic theology in question.

Did you say Iran was Arabic? It's not.

[identity profile] kevin-standlee.livejournal.com 2006-11-04 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
I know it's not. I worried that the person making the test might think it was. The one I got wrong was the one about the most common religions.
