For those who might not have seen it elsewhere, here is Cheryl Morgan's Public Statement re the Hugos.

I can't say anything else, lest someone accuse me of revealing Sekrit Information About the Hugo Awards.

It's no sekrit how the Hugo Awards work. It's published on the site that Cheryl used to maintain. If only people could have stopped flaming her long enough to read it.

Seekrits chasing seekrits

I have long said that there are some people that we encounter in life, who seem not to have ever graduated emotionally from the 7th grade. For some, that grade was pre-school. They stir the pot and cause trouble in the lives of people who are often doing great things, but those heights of great things, those stirring the pot, can never achieve without cheating or causing an uproar. This applies to more than the Hugo Awards, ahem.

I am sad to hear that so much kerfuffle has happened around the awards, so much so that it is driving very good people away from what used to be very good places and things.

I spend a fair amount of time near a vestibule containing two doors, which are labeled MEN and WOMEN. You might be surprised how many people fail to locate the correct door within two tries.

Some of these people have internet access.

It's sad to see competent, experienced people being driven away by this, but she is wise to get out.
