kevin_standlee: Kevin after losing a lot of weight. He peaked at 330, but over the following years got it down to 220 and continues to lose weight. (Cricket)

Back to Only One Sport at a Time

Australia were not able to pull off the miracle comeback, although the tail-enders made a surprisingly high score as they sort of let loose and swung away. In the end, Australia managed to score 340, which is more than I expected, before the last wicket fell and India won by 72 runs. Thus India ends Australia's winning streak at sixteen games for the second time -- it was India that stopped Australia's previous 16-game streak.

So now I'm back to only having one screen going, instead of having both the cricket and the tennis running. And speaking of tennis, I'm going back to an amazing match where Roger Federer is showing signs of being human instead of the amazing tennis machine.

Australia were ...

You've definitely been listening to a lot of Commonwealth English.

My goodness you know how to stay up late. I have never seen a Cricket match before. I hear some of those matches go on for a week in Cricket. There is a local league in Baltimore that plays Cricket. I don't know even how popular the sport is in this country.

Full-blown cricket matches do indeed last up to five days. That doesn't mean they play found the clock for five days, but five days of play, with each day consisting of three sessions of 2-3 hours. This match in Perth lasted only four days because both sides were "all out" both times. (A five-day match has both teams batting twice.) I know you like baseball, so may I suggest Cheryl's Cricket for Baseball Fans. Cricket is very interesting; it has the same sort of intellectual attraction that baseball has, in that both games are as much about the potential for action as about action itself.

There are versions of cricket that last one day, and also a version ("Twenty20") that lasts about the same time as a baseball game.

I was indeed up until after 2:30 AM, but I have been getting up relatively late (working from home helps) and have been taking short naps mid-day.
