The wireless connection at the hotel continued to stay erratic, and eventually I gave up trying. I did manage to make it home a couple of hours early, thanks to Amtrak's California Zephry Recovery Time Machine. Extensive details (You Have Been Warned) in a back-dated entry mostly composed while on the train this afternoon.
