19 Years and Counting

19 years ago today on Portland Vintage Trolley #513, Lisa and I were married, underway somewhere along Burnside Boulevard in Portland. (I'd have to check the tape to have a better idea of the exact location.) This week we're apart because of commitments I have in the Bay Area. Lisa is considering what we should do next year this week. Alas, we cannot recreate our wedding-day journey (which we did on our first wedding anniversary) because the Portland Vintage Trolleys have been discontinued, and I'm unsure on where car 513 actually ended up.

(Cars 511/512 were sold to St. Louis. 514 operates on the Willamette Shore Trolley. 513 was also supposed to go there, but I don't know what happened to it.)

Wiki thinks it moved:
"One year later, following the discontinuation of Vintage Trolley service in July 2014, a second replica-Council Crest streetcar, car 513, was moved to Lake Oswego, on September 8, 2014, and has yet to be restored to operation.[4]"

Facebook seems to agree:

Thanks for clearing that up. Lisa and I were members of the Oregon Electric Railway Museum (of which the Willamette Shore Trolley is a branch), but let our memberships lapse when we moved to Nevada.

I've got a not-terribly-old picture of #513 somewhere, and if memory serves it was taken in the Lake Oswego barn.

Also, nineteen years? That can't be right. *grumbles, wanders off feeling old*

Happy anniversary! I look forward to learning what you and Lisa decide to do next year -- I love reading your rail (and related) adventures and I'm sure you'll come up with something especially fitting.

Happy Anniversary to you and Lisa! Have you told the tale of Kuma Bear joining your family? Or has he been with Lisa longer than you have?

Yep. [livejournal.com profile] travelswithkuma joined Lisa some years before she met me, when she was at a long-ago SeaPac ham radio convention.

Congratulations! I didn't know you were married in Portland, or that it was on a vintage trolley, or that Portland had a vintage trolley. And I go to Portland pretty frequently and have lived there in the past. Sounds like a very cool wedding venue.

Well, we had. The trolleys were very pretty. They've been replaced with larger and less pretty 'streetcars.'

Those I've ridden on.
