19 Years and Counting

19 years ago today on Portland Vintage Trolley #513, Lisa and I were married, underway somewhere along Burnside Boulevard in Portland. (I'd have to check the tape to have a better idea of the exact location.) This week we're apart because of commitments I have in the Bay Area. Lisa is considering what we should do next year this week. Alas, we cannot recreate our wedding-day journey (which we did on our first wedding anniversary) because the Portland Vintage Trolleys have been discontinued, and I'm unsure on where car 513 actually ended up.

(Cars 511/512 were sold to St. Louis. 514 operates on the Willamette Shore Trolley. 513 was also supposed to go there, but I don't know what happened to it.)

Wiki thinks it moved:
"One year later, following the discontinuation of Vintage Trolley service in July 2014, a second replica-Council Crest streetcar, car 513, was moved to Lake Oswego, on September 8, 2014, and has yet to be restored to operation.[4]"

Facebook seems to agree:

Thanks for clearing that up. Lisa and I were members of the Oregon Electric Railway Museum (of which the Willamette Shore Trolley is a branch), but let our memberships lapse when we moved to Nevada.

I've got a not-terribly-old picture of #513 somewhere, and if memory serves it was taken in the Lake Oswego barn.

Also, nineteen years? That can't be right. *grumbles, wanders off feeling old*
