Canadian Breakfast

Yesterday morning, I picked up breakfast from the Wigwam, telling them that I'd spent much of the past week eating at my favorite place for breakfast that isn't the Wigwam, but that they didn't have anything to worry about because I can only eat there when I'm in Montreal, which isn't that often, albeit that it was twice in the past fifteen months.

Taking breakfast home, I made part of it Canadian.

Canadian Food

That's peanut butter and the wild Quebec blueberry jam that I bought from Atwater Market in Montreal and managed to just barely get home in my luggage. (I was less than 500 g short of the weight limit on my luggage.)

Today, snow finally reached Fernley during the current string of storms.

Just a Little Snow

There was a mere 1 cm of snow on the porch this morning, which is nothing compared to the large amounts that fell in the Sierra. Interstate 80 was closed for a while because they couldn't keep the route clear enough for anyone to get through even with 4WD and chains. There was a whole lot of snow up there, which is great, and I hope it keeps coming.

All of the snow melted by late afternoon, and I didn't even have to sweep the walks.

The next week is forecast to be very cold, with highs below freezing, but the current chance of snow here is low. However, we have to start considering getting more firewood soon. I'll have to check with Big R to see if they have any more pallets of Sis-Q-Logs. That would be the easiest solution. When the temperatures go below freezing, the heat gets sucked right out of the house. For now, I've managed to get the living room thermometer all the way up to 25°C, although it doesn't really feel that warm.

Is there anything you can do to improve the insulation on the house? It really sounds like it could do with it? I realise having just bought the East lot that you might be short of funds just now, but it also seems like it's something that should pay for itself over time with reduced fuel costs.

I think they did all the obvious things years ago but I may be forgetting a project that got postponed...
