Not Quite Zero

The weather forecast for today included a 4% chance of snow. However, 4% is not 0%, as I discovered when I looked out the front door after my normal morning online team meeting.

Surprise Snow

It was bright, sunny, but cold (about -4°C). Where the sun was shining on the minivan and the still-wrapped pallet of firewood, mist was coming off the snow.

I expect that most or all of this will melt later today as the temperature claws its way above freezing. If so, and if we're up to it, we'll work on getting the firewood unloaded.

The weather forecasters predicting snow here this weekend, mostly "in the higher elevations". I've found in the past that when they predict snow in the lower elevations it doesn't happen; it's when they don't predict it that we get it.

We were supposed to get like 25cm or so early this coming week, followed by even more in rain, but now it's down to 13cm (still a lot!) followed by still an absolute assload of rain.

I'm just assuming we don't get to leave home except on foot with shoe chains for the week. Fortunately, Anna's on vacation. I mean, it doesn't matter that much, she works from home too. But.
