I somehow managed to drag my luggage — originally packed assuming I was driving, and therefore heavier and bulkier than if I had known I was going to have to do this — around with me from the motel to light rail to the shuttle to the office and then this afternoon to the shuttle to the train to my mechanic. After redeeming the van (whose air conditioning works much better now, much to my relief), I headed over to the Holiday Inn Express Fremont, where I'm staying this weekend. After the hotels of uneven quality in which I've been staying, this was great luxury. My platinum status staying in a business-focused HIX got me an upgraded room that's bigger than my old apartment in San Jose. In a little while, after I have some dinner and the sun has gone down sufficiently to not be directly blasting the pool deck, I'm going to go soak in the hot tub. I need the relaxation.

I got an upstairs room at my motel this week, overlooking the pool. I'm hoping there won't be too many families up here with me, as there's a small deck with a table and chairs.
