1. Something in better repair would have cost more than we could afford to pay.
2. Location, location, location. There are no other houses with the railroad view.
3. The house has what amounts to a 1-stall RV hookup. Most of the other places we saw that offered "RV parking" were what we'd call "dry" parking, not a full hookup. (We had to get the water/sewer plumbed in, but that was actually pretty straightforward.) This has made the place habitable from the first day we moved the trailer into place and gives us the necessary breathing room.
4. There's no telling what will go wrong with a house. Here at least most of the problems are known. The stopped drain was a bit of a surprise, though.
5. Lisa likes it very much, even though it will be years repairing it.
