I always enjoy the kind of project where one spends a bunch of time setting things up, with no apparent benefit, and then does the last few connections and everything works. The last one I did was rerunning the Ethernet wiring in the house, which took a couple of days creeping around in the crawl space, but ended up having the house net down for just 5 minutes as I replugged things.
And heck yeah, leave the pilot line in there. Never know what you might want to run.
