Snow Kind of Guy

This morning as I started work (around 5:30 AM PT), we got our first snowfall of any amount to notice this year. It wasn't a lot — maybe 3-4 cm — and it was nice and fluffy and easy to sweep from the porch and sidewalk.

This was our first snow test of the carport. While most of the concrete stayed dry and snow-free, snow blew in from the sides and ends, covering the steps and the roof. That's not what we intended, so we'll have to order additional pieces to cover up the ends of the carport to reduce that side-blow. And if we get a clear and not too awfully-cold day where I can help Lisa do the work, we also need to install brackets of her devising to cut down on the roof side panels' tendency to vibrate and rattle in the wind.

As snowstorms go, this one was not much. And it's all that we seem to be getting this month. That's unfortunate. I'd rather have more water in the aquifer.

Last night I was surprised to come down from putting my daughter to sleep to find my wife watching The Match Game on ABC. Did you know they were reviving it again?

Ah, looking online apparently it's been going on for a while. Huh. I really don't watch much TV these days, I guess.

Yeah, I knew about it, but since we don't have television (broadcast or cable), I've never watched the new version.

Having watched another game today, man, I really want to get to a convention where you're doing a Match Game. Of course, I was really lucky to get to play when you were in Denver.

Oh, wait, are you likely to be at Westercon in 2018? That's here in Denver.

We do plan to be at Westercon (I'm Chair of the Business Meeting), but at that moment, we're not expecting to do Match Game SF there. We do expect to do the show at Worldcon 76 in San José.

Unfortunately my wife isn't allowed to travel in 2018 - which is a shame, since she's got family in San Francisco. So, I won't be able to make that.

There's always 2019 and Westercon in Utah, where Lisa, Kuma Bear, and I will be fan guests of honor and at which I expect to do at least one and maybe more shows. Salt Lake City is closer to you than San Jose is.

That is an option - I'll try to keep that in mind. I've never been to Utah, yet.

And who knows? Maybe you'll change your mind/schedule about the Denver Westercon. Stranger things have happened. :)
