Lisa says these plant can go anywhere there is sufficient sunlight, so not too far north. She suggests sites would need to all be below 45° latitude. Desert areas (if you can get enough water for the plant) are good because they have lots of sunshine, and you're not taking otherwise useful land out of production. That plant is surrounded mostly by tumbleweeds and sagebrush.
