Clearer Skies Again

A shift of wind direction sent the wildfire smoke in a different direction yesterday, but it still colored the sunset and this morning's sunrise.

This could have been mistaken for pre-dawn, but it is actually the sunset reflecting off of the clouds to the east.

The hills are visible again, and vehicles aren't getting lost in the smoke 500 m north of us on Interstate 80.

Plenty of color still in the sky.

This morning, I took this shot from the front door just as the sun was over the eastern horizon.

The quail were unimpressed by my photographic efforts and scattered to a safe distance when I came out onto the porch.
There's still smoke in the air, but not so much that I feel the need to mask up just to walk to the mailbox in front of the house the way I have been doing most of the past few days. I'm still not walking anywhere farther than that, though, as the temperatures are still hovering close to 40° C.
