Another Snowy Day in Fernley

It snowed last night for a short time, dropping an annoyingly wet and icy bit of "corn" snow that make clearing the porch difficult. This morning, snow started again, with lighter, dryer snow. I swept the porch and set off for the short walk to the Wigwam restaurant.

Very light snow was falling, with only 1-2 mm on the ground, as I left the house.

The BNSF locomotives parked in the Fernley House Tracks were idling away to prevent freeze-up. (Locomotives generally use only water coolant, not glycol-based coolant, so they are subject to freezing in cold weather.)

Looking down First Street and the back side of Fernley House. I am so happy that we found a property that has road access on both sides of the property, and now that we have the East Lot, we have roads on three sides.

The Wigwam was pretty busy this morning. I think there was a large group having breakfast in the restaurant's back room. I am sufficiently regular in my habits that the waitress put in my usual order as soon as she saw me, but warned me that there was a backlog. That didn't bother me. Eventually I did have to remind her that I should pay for it, though. I stood out of the way and waited for my food to come up.

While I waited, the snow intensified, and had filled in my footprints and started covering the road tracks on Main Street, which is rarely very busy on Sunday morning anyway.

Fernley House is only about three blocks from the restaurant. By the time I got home, there was about 1 cm new accumulation on the porch, counting from when I'd swept before going to get breakfast.
It was, as usual, a good breakfast. Now I need to get started on editing the March Railway Legends, Myths, and Stories. If I'm lucky, we might even get the April episode done by the end of this month and thus posted at the start of the month instead of the end.
