I don't expect to ever stop it -- it's with me for the rest of my life because it's improving my health generally, not such specifically reducing the diabetes.
That's as may be, but if nothing else, if this really leads to a cure, it would mean that you (and I) would no longer risk kidney disease, blindness, nerve damage, heart attack, stroke, etc. etc. etc. as side effects. That alone is huge. Beyond huge. Lifesaving.
Not to mention that diabetes progresses--the fact that you can control it with diet and exercise now doesn't mean that that will always be the case.
