Speaking of painful necks, I had my electroshock therapy (or whatever they call the electro-nerve test for carpal tunnel syndrome) today, and the answer is! Most likely not CTS. Most likely a pinched nerve in the spine at the base of the neck. Further testing/MRI required but "surgery" was again mentioned as the default solution. So please understand my unhappiness with the recent board email exchange.
