One of the years I worked comdex, I tip bet all the time.
By the end of the week, I was getting cookies, ice cream and even a cheese burger delivered to me. I finally asked the Pit Boss what was up.
He explained that while I was not high bet player, he had some discression at passing out comps for "other reasons." What other reasons? He mearly pointed to the stack of tips behind the table sign. I think I there was nearly $50 in chips there, most of it from my tip bets.
Sure I was a steady looser ($50-100 per 2-3 hour sessions) but out of the $2-300 I moved during a session, $25-50 ended up in the dealers tip pile, which was shared with the rest of the pit, including the pit boss.
