Good News, Bad News

We walked down to the Silver Legacy again this morning for breakfast. Reno's main street is cordoned off for "Tailgate Parties" before "The Big Game" (they can't say "Super Bowl" without paying the license fees). Because the buffet has no keno runners, I bought a ticket before going in to eat. On one of the six $1 games I played, I caught 5 of 7 numbers, which paid $20 and thus paid for one of our two meals, which cheered me up a little after last night's blackjack debacle.

Unfortunately, Lisa started feeling ill on the way back to the hotel. Whether we'll actually get out and get anything done today is an open question.

Thanks for your piece on Flanagan

I am actually a land owner out in Flanagan and recently had a trip out there but didn't have my camera. Some friends were here from Wales, they wanted to see Pyramid Lake so off we went. They felt we were suddenly on another planet by the time we had reached Flanagan. There is a special energy in the area... although I admit it isn't for just anyone. This Lake is considered to be Holy Ground to the Indians of Nevada. If you spend any time sitting at Neddles you will understand why.

I am a native Nevadan born and raised in Virginia City, my grandmother in fact, came to Virginia City on a stagecoach and my father worked in the mines. So, for those of us with this background we end up being a part of the history and mystery of the area. I do appreciate your adventure and the great pictures.

I'm pretty sure that if it were just a little bit closer to paved roads and less susceptible to being cut off in bad weather, Lisa would be more interested in it. How we'd necessarily manage services like internet connectivity is another question entirely.
