Ouch! Yes, I'm fortunate to have the A/C, and even more fortunate that there are not many times I have to use it. OTOH, the same factors that mean I usually have the windows open in the winter -- the apartment is a heat-sink for the rest of the building -- means that once we reach a certain tipping point, it gets really difficult (and expensive) to cool the place as well.
