Lisa says that some indoor plumbing (water to the kitchen) was installed in the 1930s, and that the bathroom and toilet were put in around 1940. Although she was born long after that, Lisa reports having had to use the outhouse when she was little. She didn't like that.
Water is now from the local water district (it's drawn from the Santiam River), but was originally from a well.
Electrical wiring in the old house is a style I'd never seen before: Knob & Tube. The wires are on posts mounted on the ceiling, out in the open for all to see. We aren't sure, but speculate that it was installed in the 1920s. There have been hydroelectric generation facilities in the area since the time people installing electricity around here. Nowadays, the power comes from the local utility, Pacific Power, and most of our power here is being generated from Detroit Lake and its associated projects.
