Not My Cup of...

kevin_standleeYesterday, Lisa and I went grocery shopping. We didn't need much, what with SMOFCon coming up, but when we went through the coffee aisle, Lisa said, "Oh, we need more coffee."
I said, "No we don't; we still have at least one packet left at home."
She said, "But I used the last one when I loaded the coffee maker for you this morning."
I blinked and said, "Well, that explains why that cup of tea tasted so awful."
Lisa looked a little blank. "Huh?"
I explained that what I thought I'd asked was for Lisa to load the coffee maker with water (but not coffee) so that when I got up, I could start the coffee maker and have hot water for the tea I meant to have that morning. I put the tea bag in the coffee pot, started it, went away to the bathroom for a while, and when I came back, there was some tea-looking substance in the pot, but it tasted awful. I figured I'd left the tea brewing for too long and it got too strong. What had actually happened, as y'all have probably figured out by now, was that Lisa had misunderstood me, put coffee in the filter (rather than leaving it blank as I'd intended), and I got a pot of coffee that had a tea-bag soaking in it for a while. Yuck.
I don't think I'll try that trick again.
