Some of you will recall the giant redwood tree that loomed over the old family house in Mehama and that hung like a Sword of Damocles over Lisa's trailer when it was parked in front of the old house. Today I got to see for the first time what it looks like a year later after having been mostly cut down by order of Lisa's brother.

This is an excellent photo of the tree taken just before we pulled out with the first rental truck from Mehama just under a year ago and just days before the tree-removal people came to commit $5000 worth of mayhem upon it.

Here's what left of the Tree of Doom. The space in the foreground with the building supplies was roughly where Lisa's trailer stood.

Because we were there so late in the day before we started taking photos, I couldn't exactly match the spot where I took the photo a year ago because the sun would have blinded the camera. We expect to drive through Mehama on our way out on Tuesday and we will try to see if we can recreate close to the exact angle and distance relative to the building so we can do a true before and after of the Mehama Giant.

Oregon still has so many trees that this sort of thing doesn't require permits.

Considering that Lisa's sister scrapped their parents' RV (after she ruined it after moving up there by ignoring all of Lisa's instructions about how to maintain it) and had an apartment constructed inside the garage where the RV had been parked (ruining the RV parking), I get the impression that permits and paying attention to anyone is not Lisa's sister's long suit.
