Cheryl went to make dinner, and said, "Didn't we buy chicken last night?"

"We sure did," I said, and I confirmed it from the store receipt.

"It's not in the refrigerator," she said.

We must have left it at the checkout counter, becuase we surely would have noticed today when we went out on our errands if we'd left it in the van overnight.

Rats! I hate wasting things like that.

If you bring your receipt back to the store and tell them what happened, they may refund your money or give you another package of chicken.

Of course, given the milage your van gets, that may be more expensive than just forgetting about it.

Not at $9.50 worth of chicken and the store being only two miles away.

It's just annoying that we didn't notice this sooner. Heck, we were in that same shopping center today, on account of that's where I got the new mobile phone.

For $9.50, give it a shot.

Could be worse. Since it was a van, you were unlikely to have left it on the roof of the car.

I lost a dozen eggs that way in grad school.
