Actually, I can understand the lack-of-clocks complaint in one specific context: Clocks on the wall at the back of each function room in the line of sight of the panels' moderators. Yes, people have watches, phones, and other time-keeping devices. Panel moderators (and participants) need to have a clock in their line of sight to try and get them to run to time.
