I remember one time when my wife and I were in Vegas and we happened across some tech convention. If I'd known about it, I might have tried to coordinate so I could have attended the convention while my wife enjoyed Vegas. But it was a totally random thing - I think we were doing the Monorail and stopped at a place that was hosing the convention.
Another time we went to a gaming convention in Vegas - it was at the Tropicana (which was being renovated at the time) waaay in the back. It was very odd - the convention was it's own little world in the back of the hotel, and then you went across the street for the MGM grand and all. It was kind of fun, two vacations in one. (I'd hoped to try something similar with Reno Worldcon, but my wife was not terribly impressed with either the Worldcon in Denver or the view of Reno we got when we went there for a wedding, so it got nixed.)
