April (Snow) Showers

It rained a little bit last night, which was unexpected, and after several days of warm weather that made us start considering what we'll do about cooling this summer, I had to light a fire for the first time in several weeks.
This morning's westbound Amtrak #5, the California Zephyr was more or less on time this morning and I went out to wave as I often do. That was when I saw that the slight rain here in Fernley was a bit more in the hills.

Amtrak 5 vanishes into the west as the clouds roll back to show a light dusting of snow on the hills that separate the Fernley/Pyramid Lake area from the Truckee Meadows and Reno/Sparks.
By afternoon the snow had melted, but anything at all to put more water into our parched aquifer is a good thing.
