Westercon, Day 0: Travel

I'm at the Marriott Mission Valley, home of this year's Westercon in San Diego. I had 90 minutes sleep last night and a 90 minute nap this afternoon. I'd love to type up my copious notes of my travel to here, but don't have time, as we need to see about finding out tickets for tonight's Padres-Giants baseball game.

My actual traveling to the hotel could not have gone better. Things got strange once I got to the hotel.

I hope to write more later. After all, I've paid for the day (Noon to Noon) of internet access on the hotels' wired service, so I'd better get some use from it!

Speaking of baseball, while you're at Westercon, could you check with the L.A.Con management to see if they've reserved a block of seats for the Red Sox-Angels game on Tuesday night? Or the Yankees-Angels game later in the week? I'd like to attend with some other fans, but if no block is reserved, I need to get tickets for me and nwl sooner rather than later.

I will check; however, if what happened tonight is any indication, the prospects are not good. Nowhere near enough people bought in to the baseball outing, and Jim Briggs is left holding the bag on 13 tickets on account of having to pay for them all up front.

free internet

I'm picking up a open free LinkSys WiFi connection on the 6th floor of the hotel near the high number rooms. I don't know where your room is or if you even have a WiFi card, but I figured I would mention it in case it saves you some money.

I'm on the 4th floor, high end, and while my machine saw that open Linksys once, it couldn't hold open a connection to it. Phooey.

And I may have jinxed myself. My connection to linksys died shortly thereafter and I can only get it back up 25% of the time. On well, since I'm fully employed as of 26 June, it looks like it is time to pony up the $10 / day.

Actually, Kevin Orange and black hair works well for you. You should come east some year for Otakon (biggest Anime con on the East Coast) and wear that wig. You would be the most photographed person there.
