The slight cold I picked up somewhere along the line is moving into my chest, and Lisa is showing signs of coming down with it as well. So we have done a public service by not coming up to Portland for OryCon. I only hope this things clears up before I fly to SMOFCon on the first weekend of December. Unfortunately, chest colds with me have a tendency to want to stick around for a while.

Did you really mean "now" or "not" "coming up to Orycon"?

Darn, but glad you're staying close to home and working on getting better.

Now that I see Kevin has provided a better location for the report, let me copy & paste what I typed elsewhere:

Short news from Orycon: So far so good! Excellent turnout as of early Friday. Very few important problems have come up so far. As always, we've had many small ones.

The storage locker was not as well arranged as it should have been and among other things several totes of office supplies never made it to the hotel. The only thing we needed urgently was the colored paper supply, but we've located what seems to be barely enough misfiled in other containers.

Hospitality was unexpectedly delayed. Friday morning several of the important people in the department left to get perishable food for the weekend - and the car broke down. So the people who knew how to run Hospitality were stranded by the roadside, far away from the hotel, and there was no food anyway! That got sorted out eventually but it meant Hospitality opened hours later than planned.

Thanks for the report, which I've passed on to Lisa as well.
