Technology Saving My Life

Well, I can't prove it, but the fact that I can work from home almost as easily as from the office may have saved my life this morning. Thanks to things like DSL, VPN, and Remote Desktop Connection that lets me run my logistics optimization models on the office machine without having to pump vast amounts of data back and forth between there and my laptop, I am much more likely to bail out of the commute and work from home when things look bad. This reduces the chance that I will get nailed in a traffic accident by one of those people who forgets how to drive in the rain, of which there were many this morning.
