Returning from dropping my van at the mechanic's shop last night, I turned on the light in the kitchen and saw ant trails all over the floor. None were on the counters, thank goodness. I put out five ant traps at the places they seem to be congregating. I'd mop the floor, but I want the ants to take as much of the ant bait as they can hold and carry lots of it back to their nest. So now I need to avoid stepping in the ant trails while they happily gorge themselves on borax-laden sugar syrup.
Oddly enough, while I can't distinguish between Splenda and real sugar, ants seem to be able to do so, and they aren't interested in spilled bits of sucralose. Maybe they can taste the chlorine in it.
