How Does This Happen?

My standing Google search turned up this article about Forrest J. Ackerman that, to my bemusement, contains this assertion:

Along with pals Ray Bradbury and special effects legend Ray Harryhausen, the trio organized the first World Science Fiction Convention, where Ackerman became the first conventioneer to go to the event in costume, a common occurrence these days.

While Forry did indeed attend NyCon I in costume, none of the rest of that sentence is accurate. I've written to the web site telling them so, and provided some references to more accurate information.

Follow-Up, 22:15: To my surprise, I've already received an answer from the web site's manager, saying they'll fix it soon, and explaining that it's a rewritten press release from SPACE. I've asked if they have a specific contact at SPACE to whom I could write to try and get it corrected.
