I currently have two Worldcon site selection ballots that I am carrying to Worldcon with me. If anyone else wants me to take their ballot for them, contact me. Note that I'm leaving on August 30, so it's up to you to arrange to get your ballot to me before that date. I will not be at any BASFA meetings between now and Aussiecon 4, so it's now too late to hand me a ballot there.

Since it seems everyone else is doing so, here's the one program item on which I'm scheduled at Worldcon:

In case you care )

I also will be at all of the WSFS Business Meetings, which have a remarkably terse and uninformative description of "Involves site selection for future Worldcon," which is true as far as it goes but doesn't go far enough and is likely to leave anyone who doesn't already know what it is in the dark. The business meetings are scheduled for Friday 1000 Room 216; Saturday 1000 Room 216; Sunday 1000 Room 216; and if necessary Monday 1000 Room 216. (We haven't had to hold a Monday meeting since 1992.)

I'll be recording all of the meetings, and I'll upload the recordings when I can, which may not be until I get back from Australia on account of bandwidth restrictions. (Alternatively, I may generate a low-res version that I can upload from Australia and then a higher-resolution one for upload later when I get back to a high-bandwidth connection.)

Originally posted on the A4 LJ but now also with a branch on [livejournal.com profile] worldcons is a discussion about the future of Worldcon, with particular regard to dates and conflicting events such as Dragon*Con and Burning Man. Comments on the [livejournal.com profile] worldcons thread, please, not here. The discussion is fractured enough as it is.

I have had time today to think about this and participate in the discussion, but the time draws near rapidly when I will have no more such time because I'll be too busy participating in fanac in person at Worldcon to be writing about it online. Indeed, while I expect to be online a bit around the Hugo Awards and maybe long enough to post some Business Meeting reports, I would not count on me being online a long for the first two weeks of December. Don't panic if messages from me are relatively rare between August 30 and September 12: I won't have disappeared, but may well not have great internet connectivity for part of that time.
