Shortcut Through the Fog
Jan. 16th, 2011 04:14 pmWhen I left Redding this morning and headed into the Sacramento Valley, I fairly quickly ran into fog. Not the blinding fog that had slowed progress to a crawl over Siskiyou Pass last night, but enough to make me worry about being out in it at the end of the day. I therefore decided to chop off my originally-planned side trip to Sutter, which, while it turns out wouldn't have actually lengthened the total trip distance that much, would have added three or four hours to the trip. Combined with getting away an hour earlier than I originally planned from Redding, this meant I got home only a little bit after 3 PM, which is a bit of a relief, actually.
What wasn't a relief was opening my storage closet off the apartment's patio (so I could store a couple of the now-empty boxes I'd used to carry things back with me) and to see a black widow spider scurry away into the dark corners of the woodwork. It's not much of a surprise, but it means I'll have to get some more spider poison and spray the area again, and I'll have to be extra careful about retrieving anything from the locker. *shudders*
