In a few minutes I'm heading for Fernley for the weekend. Alas, my personal laptop once again will not boot. As before, I won't lose anything but time because it's readable and the backup clone booted. But I don't have the two-plus hours it takes to reclone the booting drive back into the non-booting one. Also, I want to try one other thing that I ran across that might fix the problem (but probably won't). What I'm going to probably have to do is roll back to the as-installed drive, clone it up into a larger drive, then reload all Windows updates, software, and documents. This amounts to an all-day job and I don't have time for it today.
